Starboard Kode 80 Wood 2009

I bought the Kode 80 in October as felt that I could do with a larger wave board to fit between my Pure Acid 74 and Kombat 96 and what a fantastic idea that was too as this board is sweet as!

I have only been out on it once but it was clear that this board really is at the top of its game and in the hour and a half session I used it, it is clear that this is going to be my board of choice for 4-5m weather.

It is VERY smooth, even in choppy waters. It holds its line well and powers through the turn, maintaining its speed with very little effort. Jumping is a treat and I felt it rolls into loops much easier than my Acid 74 and whilst I do not believe it is as quick, it is quicker to plane and much more rider-friendly than the Acids. I could have stuck my 22cm Drake fin on when it picked up to 4.2 weather, but I was still able to maintain control at all times.

The new 2009 Drake footstraps are a vast improvement on last years and provide excellent padding and comfort when combined with the widely appreciated deck pads.

Another great board getting definite 5 out of 5 from a Starboard 5-board quiver lover!
