RRD Thruster 84lt 2010

Aloha Danny....

Don't know if you got out on your Thruster yesterday (NO! I didnt, as the wind dropped off when we closed the shop...) but sailed my 84 at Worthing in the morning. This is the first time I have had it out in powered up conditions with decent waves. The last time I sailed it I was on a 5.2 and only just going, it did feel like it was *dragging a bit and afterwards I had even thought of changing fins, thrusters etc.

All I will say now is that it’s FANTASTIC as it is… it just needs to be powered up!

I was on a 4.2m maxed to start with, but the board was still in control. The wind then dropped a bit and I was just right. The Thruster planned easily (quicker than my old twin) and the best bit was the jumping and control in the air, you can really drive it off the top of a wave. OK, its not quite as slashy as the twin but still turns on a sixpence. As my smallest board for use in waves, chop, swell, it should be perfect and ideal to partner my FSW.

* Surfladle Note. In my opinion.. multi-fin boards (three or more, with fins close to the rail) do need to be driven by slightly more sail power than a single fin, so you may need to rig a slightly bigger sail than you would on your previous board.
