North iFront Boom

Hi Danny, I tried out my new North iFront boom last Friday rigged on my Voodoo 4.7 and North RDM 400 and I have to say it made a real difference. North booms have always been solid for me, and this is no exception but it feels a lot lighter in the hands the its predecesors.

The wide front angle of the arms encourages you to get your hands further towards the mast in gybes making the rig rotation a lot smoother. It does take a little bit of getting used to, but not in a negative way - just different. The tube diameter also feels noticeably smaller than the previous Silver Series booms I was using, so it would be really great for ladies with smaller hands or to reduce forearm fatigue.

The self-clamping (or whatever is pitched as) did not really make much difference first time around and I have also not experimented too much with the flex adjustment settings on the front end, but perhaps once I start to use it more across a wider sail range and different conditions I will see some more benefit in both these areas.

Overall it is a well made piece of kit which should go on for many seasons and comes very well recommended considering the very competitive price tag!
