Coil Leashes are prefered for distance paddling as they do not drag in the water. It is classed as a flatwater leash but it is OK for use in small waves, but this can stretch the leash (some say that putting a stretched coil leash into hot water will retension it..). The size of leash you buy is simple .. the leash size should match the board length and the bigger the board the thicker the leash. 3/16" core is fine for all inflatable SUP and smaller composite boards.
