More Winter, Dear Mr Seales, Rugby and MOTHERS DAY!

Another week of winter has moved by, with Thursday bringing a surprising period of blue skies with a warm and friendly wind, just for a change, but alas it did not hang around for long.  Monday was the other end of  ‘windy’ which did hang about and gave everyone a wakeup call!
I guess we are getting ever closer to those inspiring early Spring days but for now winters grip is hanging in there. What the heck, it’s Friday evening and time to start another Happy Weekend!

Let’s start with some good news.. it’s going to be short and sweet tonight due to ‘the pressures of life’ and the need for ‘a life’ outside of four walls… as we all do. So forgive my grammatical errors and any typos please!

Monday was a difficult day. The strong and gusting wind makes loading vans and putting the kit outside, a little too dodgy for my liking. The wind seems to accelerate along Ferry Road, especially around this ‘corner shop’ and one of its favourite tricks is to slam a vans tailgate down, generally when you are beneath it (have avoided so far but it’s scary!). On a more heart pulling note, it was three years ago to the day that a large number of us congregated at Tribes of Shoreham (local Funeral Directors Chapel) to see a Mr Seales get on his way to the promised land. I think most would agree that it was a mixed bag of a day, happy and sad, as send offs for ‘characters’  always are, but the fact remains that we all miss dear Danny and it’s good to be reminded every so often of when he was around..  truly great days and what a man he was!

We have taken in a great improvers Windsurfing board. It’s a Fanatic Gecko 135lt from 2014 in the tough but reasonably light HRS construction and only one carefree owner from New. These boards are wide but low in volume, which helps the rider get planing but also to engage a rail to make it turn, when required (this design aided many to make their first carve gybes). The board is in VGC, as is the fin and it comes with a Fanatic Board Bag  (only 3 straps but not a problem to add a fourth).  £425.00 comes to mind…

Rugby this weekend and I guess that a lot of you will be once again hitting the pubs to ‘enjoy’.

It’s a whole afternoons worth, as Scotland start the odd shaped ball wobbling at 12.30pm and then England has a 5.00pm start (Wales in between at 2.45pm). We do have a possibility of a little light wind action early morning but being honest it looks like perfect Pub weather for later in the day, if wind is what YOU need. Everybody else with watersports in mind will of course be able to do something.. rain is on the cards though. Now to tut weather fer Weekend.

Saturday.. starts off with light winds from the South – Sou’ East. !0-14kts before 9am and the dropping off to a very light 4-8kts later. Rain is likely to mess up your day at some point and the temp is 9°C.. but could be worse! Tide is High at 08.21hrs on a 5.1m. so not much water in the estuary and little sand for dog walkies.

Sunday sees the winds shift around to a Nor’West (useful..) but very light at  6.-9kts (not much use even for foils I fear) . It does allegedly swing to the Sou’West in the afternoon and pick up to 8-12kts so there maybe some joy if you can do something with that. If not go and see your Mum!

Tide is High at 09.25hrs on a 5.6m.. more water in the estuary but you will have to be out early to use it! Sand should be available for the dogs. No rain as yet. One other thing.. Do not forget that it’s Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday on Sunday!!!

And that is that for this week and also for next (unless James decides to take over) as I have to be somewhere else doing things that I would rather not.  I am really looking forward to life on the beach kicking off again, as although the winter in the UK has a certain charm (did I just write that!) it don’t half drag on! Have a great weekend and do make a fuss of your Mum.. if and when you can. Cheery Pip!
