Warm winds but not for long, crispy beards and SUP boards to buy for!

It’s Friday evening and even though it is the thirteenth, a lot of You have had a very good time out on the water! I have had reports from the local beaches, as well as Thorpe Bay on the Essex coast, all of which said that they were only out for an hour or so but the conditions were ‘lovely’ (an hour is generally long enough in temps below 10°C). Quite amazing to be this far into January and still the winds blow. Normally we are lucky if they manage to get through the first week! It is a shame about the torrential rain, which has also been consistent, as it has created ‘impressive’ inland flooding and has been happily destroying the roads as well, but at least this weather pattern has had a silver lining for some! Sadly, in fact very sadly, the forecast says that it’s all change for next week, with crispy cold Freezio weather returning and they reckon there is a possibility of SNOW next Tuesday ( there goes the profits, sucked up by another stonking electricity bill). Personally, I would prefer to keep the current warmer weather, as at 60kg there is no ‘thermal blanket’ layer to keep the cold at bay,  but I know a lot of people have had enough of ‘wet’ , so let’s not be too greedy. eh.

Talking of cold, Solite, the waterwear manufacturer, released a series of lifestyle pics earlier today and I thought the attached might make our conditions feel HOT, compared to those that some have to suffer. This also is a good time to mention that we have their Solite Split Toe socks back in stock, in case yours have got a bit worn (supplied with their boots as a warmth adder and also to protect your toes, during the heat moulding process) .. only £9.00 a pair and may work well in ’other’ split toe boots. Easy sizing, Small UK 4-7. Medium 7- 9  and Large 9.5 - to infinity and beyond.

We had a lovely looking 2023 JP Sur Pro arrive for a customer last week and thought I would share the pics (forgive the slight orange tint from the shop infra-red heater!). This particular board is their 8’1” x 28” and 103lt, destined to spend its time between Hove and a secret spot in the West Country, so at some point when the owner has had a chance to ride it at both locations,  we will get a Customer Review on how it performs (and at £1749.00 we hope it performs very well!). Do note that this board has a windsurf option!

Next up is the SUP board traded in from the JP Owners wife. This 2021 Fanatic Stubby 8’7” x 29 ¼” 120lt (2020 on the serial but they were carried through into 21) is a One Lady Owner and the condition is a testimony to its having been cared for. There are minimal chips on the rails and no repairs.. it really is a ‘first to view will buy’ board. Comes with a ‘super’ Flying Objects board bag and the price is… £885.00. Again, this board has the windsurf option.

Not a normal Friday evening for me, as no mud ridden countryside ramble to do when I get home. Sadly, my wife has had a horrid virus this week and one which is continuing, so she is not slaving away at the pub tonight. I do however still have to get going, as I am being a caring husband and will be cooking for her delight once again tonight..  guess she will be off next week as well!!  So, what of the weekends weather, before I off bugger?

Saturday, is the last of the warm weather days and for its finale, it is looking a bit mad. Winds are from the Sou’Sou’West during the morning with 33-48kts on offer. That will change to a Westerly by mid-afternoon and drop off to a paltry 25-35kts. Rainfall looks to be of reasonable quality and hanging around until the wind switches direction in the afternoon. Air temp is said to be somewhere around the 10°C mark. The Tide time (still waiting for our new tables) is High at 15.27hrs on a 4.7m Neep, so the low is at 9am but won’t be much past the end of the rock groynes, if at all, with the onshore’ish wind direction. Could be worse..

Sunday the winds continue from the West at 30 – 35kts during the morning and then again dropping back in the afternoon to 20-30kt. No rain in the morning but arriving at around 3pm in the afternoon and hopefully just as it gets dark! Best air temp is shown as 8°C.. after that it turns to Nor-West Winds on Monday and we drop to a daytime temp of 5°C..  and downwards from there on. Tide is High at 16.23hrs on an even smaller 4.5m Neep. Oh well…

And that is it.. I have to burn rubber back inland and leave our beloved Shoreham Beach for another night. We open again at 9.30am tomo and will be glad to assist you with anything that is pulling at your purse strings..  or if you just want to come in and take a look. Have a wonderful Friday evening and an even better than Wonderful Weekend (and forgive any typos!).
