Here we go .. its 23, 10 is average and there are 7 Ezzy' in this weeks!!?

Friday evening arrives and we have a New Year and a fresh start.. very fresh in fact, as the wind has been hitting the beach on every, or at least every other day, for weeks! We have customers complaining that they are worn out from sailing too much.. in December / January! If only we could have that happen in the Spring or Autumn (Summer has to be reserved for ‘everyone ‘ to enjoy). Sadly wind does nay come alone.. it always comes with shed loads of rain and we all know how much rain has been arriving lately (walking on the land is like walking on water0.

So much so that our poor old conservatory (22 years old this year) has been springing a few leaks, which even in a Watersports shop is a bit of a problem. Thankfully no damage to any of the stock at the moment but if you or any one you know are in the market for an inflatable SUP,  ‘Just ask’ and we will come up with a very nice price.. we need to get them shifted from the window area!

The ‘current’ weather pattern seems to suggest to the forecasters that this wet and windy spell will continue (forgetting those shock horror weather reports in the papers, that claim the Beast from the East will return ‘next week’) and if that is the way the winter goes, then we may well get our wish of a warm one, which would be welcomed by those who do like their winter watersports!
I heard on the news that 2022 was the warmest year on record for the UK, with an average temperature of.. wait for it.. 10°C! That is depressing.. it’s the cut off temp for most people to go out on the water during the winter months and it is our average temperature?? No wonder I spend most of my life feeling cold! Surely we must need more Global warming in the UK?
Well, I guess it is an improvement on 9, so I really should not complain about the 10!.

One thing that has not changed in 23 is my Friday evening disappearing. I’ve just been chatting to a chap about the Gladiator Touring SUP boards in the LT versions.. specialist board for lighter weight paddlers.. but that was another 30 mins gone, so I had better crack on.

Anyone need some Ezzy Waves as a quiver or to fill in sizes??

For some reason the picture of the 4.2m is 'not to hand' , so I will locate that and update tomo. If you want further pics please ask.
We have a set of used Masts to go with the above sails, if you are interested!

(To see larger pics of the sails on our facebook site click here or email us for copies).

And now, we go to the Weather and Tide Times.. using any other source than our own tide tables!
Saturday we have wind, from the dreaded South (most destructive direction in this area and a pig to launch into, unless the tide is out). Guru has the strength at  28-40kts and so do the Met!
Rain is said to be ‘heavy man’ but the temp is going to be above average, at 11°C! The Tide is High at 11.33hrs on a 5.5m.. a bit of a bugger as that means being off the water by 9am’ish and back on the water at 14.30hrs’ish.
Sunday, the wind should have swung to Sou’Sou’West and dropped back to a mere mortal 25 – 35kts, with the possibility of a period of Westerly wind late in the afternoon 22 – 30kts, but it may be dark by the time it arrives! That’s Guru’s take, the Met give it as 20 – 30kts dropping back to 15-25kt. Both agree it’s Rain again, and all day, with a chillier below average 8°C. Tides get a little later in the day, as the High moves onto 12.07hrs on a 5.6m. If the wind does have West in it Shoreham should be a better bet than the Saturday.. fingers crossed! The estuary should have enough water in it for foiling on both days or for a down winder SUP, depending upon which way the tide is flowing (going inland on the morning tide makes the most sense to me).

And that is that for the first ever Friday Night Ramble of 2023.
I’m off home now to do more rambling and walking on water but will be back in here tomorrow at 9.30am to present customers with their New boards, along with other things that are made for fun.. it is exciting!!

Have a good evening and a great weekend!
