Gone with the Right Winds, Used Dyno, Viper poss, STX bargains and summit else, as well.

Friday evening has come around once again and the wind today has been blowing from the ‘right’ direction, just for a change! That is the good news.. the bad and the sad news is that it will be gone by tomorrow. Weekends are just not the same without a good blow from the Sou’West!

More about the wind later but for now here is a quick reminder about an Event which is on this Sunday and will take place come wind, rain or shine! The Giant Paddle is a SUP charity fund raising event and it’s on this Sunday morning at Mercers Park, South Nutfiled near Redhill.
The paddle is in aid of the Royal Marsden Hospital who specialise in cancer treatment and have been described as truly wonderful for those families who have had to deal with the awful news that their children have cancer. I think that says enough and which is why I am mentioning this not so ‘local’ event again. Please note that you do have to book your place on the Eventbrite site and the fee for having fun at Mercers this Sunday is £20.00, of which £15.00 will go straight to the The Royal Marsden. You do need to take a board (no hire available) and a leash or buoyancy aid is also required. More info can be found on the Eventbrite page.. Click Here for the link

Used kit. We have traded in a Severne Dyno Mk2 105lt which is in lovely condition with only slight ‘patina’ (aka gel coat chips.. that word seems to get used for so many things it does not mean!) and is available to purchase for £1025.00..  ono. If you don’t know much about the Dyno (where have you been?) it’s a Free-wave/ride board that really suits our local choppy waters, due to the underside shape which has double concave and vee that allows the board to ‘track’ through the chop. Another reason these boards are loved is a great sail range. In the tri fin set up the 105 will perform really well with sails from 5m to 6.5m but can be used with anything up to a 7.5m, when used with a single fin (not supplied with this board). Viewing is of course highly recommended and first to see will.. undoubtably haggle!
There will be a newcomers Fanatic Viper board and Rig coming in tomorrow, priced at around the £700 mark complete. We do have someone on the books who of course has first refusal but thought I would mention it, just in case someone else is keen and would like the second ‘opportunity to buy’.
No new used SUP boards this week but we do have great prices available on inflatable SUP’s and will match online prices.. for instance, the 2021 STX 11’6” x 32” Touring board complete with paddle etc. is now up at only £469.00 or the 2021 10’8” x 34” All round super stable STX board package at £440.00! Why buy a budget board or a used when you can have a quality new one at that price??

Talking of savings, we will be reducing the price of our remaining 6/4mm winter stock wetsuits this weekend by 15% (or more) so it could be a wise move to buy one now as with the rises in inflation heading our way, we foresee big price hikes against this coming winter. Give us a call and see what suits we have in your size.

Time is rushing by so it’s now time for the weekend weather ‘guess’ and those set-in stone High Tide Times!
Saturday, we expect to have light winds from the Southern sector at around 6-9kts with light, fluffy, happy faced clouds and a not so happy top temp of 13°C. Tide is High at 10.36hrs on a 5.8m so not bad for an early paddle up a river or around the estuary. I guess the winds could be just about enough for foiling (of some type if not motor assisted) but not a great wind direction as onshore.

Sunday it’s all change as the wind swings to the Eastern sector and picks up to 15-23kts. Stronger earlier in the day and then it may swing to almost Nor’East later in the afternoon (Paul Wallis will be happy). Sadly, those light, fluffy, smiley face clouds will be replaced with rain dropping ones, as we have precipitation forecast for a short period around 8am and then from 6pm on, into the evening. The only good news is that they reckon the temp may go above 20°C, even with the rain.
Tide is High at 11.20hrs on a 6.1m. SUP is not so good but Wings, Kites and Windys may do better.

And that is that for this Friday evening… sorry but I must get out of here!
I hope your weekend goes to plan but if you don’t have a plan, then I hope it does whatever it does you may hope it might!  Stay safe and spare a thought for those that cannot.
Ta Ra.
