It's Friday.. but will it blow and Dave is Hot!

Friday afternoon has arrived and the Weekend is just a few hours away.. and once again it looks to be a windy one which hopefully will be better than last week's rather disappointing farce on the Sunday.

It's windy both days and then carrying on through Monday as well,  but as always that can change so let's just keep the fingers crossed. The temps are forecast to be 11-12°.. almost balmy and the rain is only forecast for Saturday afternoon. So if you are into wind sports that's not a bad forecast and if you paddle, well at least there will be waves to play on in the harbour and at wind protected beaches. The inland waterways should be OK as well and even if there are slight headwinds.. at least your hands should stay warm!
Now, one person who has not suffered the pain of cold hands for quite a few years is ex. Rustington resident Dave Boyler (some of you must know him!). For some reason, I cannot think what,  he moved to Australia quite a while back and now resides near Sydney. Dave has been a very patient man awaiting the new DaKine Options Kite sliding spreader bar which has taken rather longer than we expected to supply (they should now be available mid February) and with his last email he sent over a few pics of his local beaches. The first is a great shot of Long Reef near Collaroy, which links up with Narabeen. It's one of the Northern Sydney beaches up above the infamous Manly Beach. I spent a couple of months in that area in 1990 (it's a very nice place if you are thinking of going..) but I never saw anything like the waves that Dave's picture shows.. the outer waves lip looks  very 'heavy duty'.
The next pictures come from a place that when Dave mentioned it made me laugh as much as the first time I saw it on the map.. Delicate Nobby! Only the Australians could name a place that. Lovely beach though and there is a great 360° shot via this link.. Click Here

Hope the link has worked as it would not embed for some reason.. probably 'me' being the reason.
It's worth having a look at the area on Google if you get a moment and if you are heading out that way with your kite I am sure Dave will be happy to give you a few local tips.. oh and the Option spreader bar cost is £52.00.. £10.00 for a spare rope!

So, the tides for this weekend are..
Saturday 06.41hrs on a 5.3m (low at 1.20pm at Shoreham) and then 07.58hrs on a 5.5m on Sunday (low at 2.20pm approx).

That is it.. short and sweet.  I hope your weekend is a lot brighter than the one we all suffered just five days ago and may it bring you hours of fun and happiness..  bad luck if you're working!
