5°C Below, Ho Ho Ho and D'Dogs lens a change'oh.d Feck

Brrrrr…..there goes another 7 Days of 2023 and that great Friday evening feeling is here once again, which means we’ve made it to the Weekend!

What a week this has been for ‘issues’, which culminated into two closures of the shop, Monday for the afternoon and roughly an hour today, which I don’t remember ever having to do since we took over back in 1994… OMG, that will make it a straight 30 years of  ‘time’ done,  come 2024! Not sure if that will be something to celebrate or commiserate…. Hmmm. Anyhow, it’s a brief one tonight, so let’s get on with it. Work..
Even though we have worked pretty much every weekend for years, it still feels like a weekend, so there must be something ‘more to it’ than just time off..  a bit like Christmas, as the Grinch once said!  I do feel obliged to mention the ‘C’ word now, as we are officially in December and everyone and every company’s emails keeps telling me it’s time for ‘it’, so the Megastores ‘illuminations’ are strung up and we are as ready as anyone can ever be, to welcome those Jingling Bells of Father Jack’s sleigh on Christmas Day (if only..).  Let me just mention that moving all of the SUP boxes to get to the window area was a great workout… but would anybody like an inflatable SUP at a good price, as the thought of doing it all again before the Twelfth day, could ruin my Christmas! Talking of Christmas lights, I should get a good view of the Leonards Lee Gardens ‘Illuminated’ this evening, as the low cloud makes their light show very visible when walking across the fields and I may also hear the soundtrack of their ‘haunting music’, due to this rather FRIGID Northerly air flow!  The show is worth a look if you have never been.. https://www.leonardsleegardens.co.uk/
Now, talking of being out in Cold air…
If anyone is heading off to the mountains for a spot of Snow Fun and is in need of Eye Protectors, we now have the Dirty Dog Goggles with the magnetic Quick-Swap lens back in stock. These are now the only type of google to wear, as being able to change the lens from the too bright in the sun reflective type to the low vis in the snow enhancing type is truly a gift from above and no, they do not come off at the slightest fall. Last year we had great feedback and as they start from £84.99 including both lenses  (less your Locals discount if you collect from the shop) they are one of the best priced QR Goggles on the market. Come and have a look…

Ok, time for the weekend SNOW report.. well not quite snow yet but it is going to be cold and then..
Saturday, The Met say the wind will be from the Nor’Nor’West 5-8kts until early afternoon, when it swings to the West 3-5kt.. hardly worth mentioning! There will be Sun all day and a top temp out of the wind of a balmy 2°C !  Feck.. as Father Jack would say.
Tide is High at 13.59hrs on a 5.5m.

Sunday, all change! Rain from the start, which looks to be heavier in the morning but with it comes wind from the Sou’Sou’West 15–26kt, backing Wes’Sou’West around midday 12-21kt.
Top Temp is given as 8°C , which will feel a bit warmer than the frost bite conditions we have had over the last couple of days. Tide is High at 14.42hrs on a 5.2m, if you can think of something to do!

And that’s it for this week. If you are out and about on the water tomorrow, beware the offshore wind and please make sure you have the right kit on for these conditions. Remember, if in doubt, don’t go out!
Have a great weekend everyone.
