It's Summer all the way, I'm envious and things change.

Summertime is at last here and the living should be easy but all you hear is people moaning about the heat, which seems a shame as it won’t last long (gone by Monday allegedly) and a little bit of heat does get the good old Beach Life going again. So, forgetting the occasional moan, lets all be happy that it’s a Hot Weekend ahead and make the most of it, as it is likely to be the last ‘Hot Hoorah’ for 2023.

Quite a change took place on Monday, as the name of Fanatic on wind and wing kit was replaced with Duotone. The change is mainly with the name, as the kit is still designed by the same people and the majority will be compatible with the previous Fanatic versions, so don’t panic if you have bought a Fanatic foil recently, the Duotone parts will fit. There have been changes to the new Duotone boards, as per the Grip which is no longer being offered as a Quint fin box board. For those who don’t know.. five fin boxes allowed a variation of fin set ups for different sailing conditions, which when launched was promoted as a one board covers all but Quint is now seen as a compromise, so we are back to having dedicated Quad or TriFin boards. The SLS construction is called Premium and the price is £2299.00 which we hope will make it an easier option to purchase, if the D-Lab Carbon version at £2549.00 is just a bit too much above the board budget (if you are local we will continue to offer you your beach discount.. don’t forget! ). More to come on these, as and when the wind returns (next Tuesday??).

The big Event of this weekend, at least locally, has to be the hold ups on the A27, as it’s the Revival at Goodwood Motor Circuit and it does look as though it will be a Glorious Goodwood as well, with the temperatures warm enough to make those tyres stick to the track (drivers may find it a tad ‘warm’ though) but with a bit of cloud cover, just enough to prevent the frazzling of the spectators. A friend who was involved with motor racing back in the late seventies (Malaya Garage of Billinghurst, should anybody out there remember them) is on the Invite list to Goodwood House tonight, so apart from being envious of those in our trade who got hold of tickets and are all having a lovely day today, I am seething with envy as the Friday night event at the house is apparently a once in a life time ‘shindig’. Oh well, a walk to the pub will do me good…  Time is shooting past and not an evening for writing, so heading straight to the weekends weather!

Saturday, we have a very light 3kt cyclonic wind and should be a clear sky with 26°C, so get out there but do add the sun cream. Tide is High at 19.50hrs on a Neap 4.5m (not a lot of sand showing on the beach and water level in the River will be low).

Sunday it starts to deteriorate with an East’Sou’East wind 7-10kt and an overcast sky (very much like today) but still around 25°C , yet another day of late summer to enjoy. Tide is High at 09.07hrs (switched to the mornings as peops should be up by then!) on a 4.6m, low will be at 15.00hrs approx.

And there you have it.. It’s looking good for a proper Beach Weekend, so let’s hope they have it right! Open again tomo at 9.30am… oh joy! J
